skid|way «SKIHD WAY», noun.
1. a) two logs or timbers laid parallel at right angles to a road, on which to pile a tier of logs for loading. b) a way or path down which logs can slide as on a skid.
2. a side, sloping tunnel in the rear of a whaling factory ship, leading from water level up to the work deck, used to drag the whale out of the water.
